여긴 정말 시원한 국수 집이다. 

육수가 시원한 것에 한가지 추가한다면 신선한 숙주의 아삭아삭 소리가 시원하다. 

구수한 메밀 면발에 시원한 육수가 부어져 있고 그 위에는 신선한 숙주가 한 가득인데 

정말 한입 한입 먹을 때마다 메밀의 구수함에 숙주의 아삭함을 한입 가득 머금고 

그 한입이 거의 끝나갈 즈음에 그릇을 들어 시원한 육수 한 가득 입에 채우면 더 할 것 없이 행복하다. 

국수 한 젓가락 한 젓가락 먹을 때마다 육수를 마시는 관계로 반 그릇 정도 먹으면 육수가 부족해진다. 

육수는 언제든 리필해주시니 맘 편히 시원한 육수 들이키기로-!!

냉면을 먹을 때에는 냉면 김치를 냉면 위에 올려놓고 냉면 고명과 함께 먹는 것을 선호하지만 여기 막국수는 같이 나오는 반찬은 따로 먹게 된다. 

고소한 메밀 향에 좀 방해가 되는 것 같아서 한두 젓가락 먹은 후, 

잠시 쉬어가는 마음에 반찬으로 나오는 김치를 한입 먹고 다시 국수 한두 젓가락 먹는 스타일-!!

갑지기 드는 생각인데,,, 이거 숙주 아니면 어떻게 하지...?? #ㅎㅎ 

(야채에 지식이 부족해도 너무 부족한 관계로 숙주가 아닐 수 있으니 참고 부탁 드립니다...)

​본 포스트에는 없지만 이 집 만두도 맛있다. 

만두 피가 메밀로 만들어서 좀 더 구수한 맛이 일품이다. 

만두 속은 평범한데 만두 피가 구수한 향이 그윽해서 보통 만두보다 좀 더 정성든 만두를 먹는 기분... 

물론 만두피가 메밀로 만들어졌으니 더 정성이 들어갔겠지만... ㅎㅎ

There are one of those days when you need cold refreshing bowl of noodle. 

This is a perfect time for a bowl of bongpyeong #buckwheatnoodle

Bongpyeong is a city in southern part of #gangwondo province. 

The buckwheat from bongpyeong is so famous that they have their own festival during fall. 

I have not yet been there but if you are visiting Korea or here for just couple years, I highly recommend that you check their festival. 

I am sure that they've got loads of delicious food waiting for you.

​Back to the bowl of refreshing noodle... 

They have two choices of noodle but what I usually get is the cold broth noodle. 

The spicy one has it's own place but my heart is always set for the cold broth one. 

The refreshing cold soup and the savory buckwheat noodle taste really hits my spot. 

The added touch is the fresh and crunching sprout that covers the top of the noodle. 

The crunchy texture really makes each bite an experience to keep in your heart for a while... until your next visit I suppose. #lol

망향비빔국수는 항상 맛있다. 항상 옳다. 그냥 #정답 이다-!!

주로 여름에 찾게되는 메뉴인데 봄 가을에도 종종 생각나는 맛이다. 

시원하고 살짝 매콤하며 달달한데 거기에 면도 탱글해서 최고의 비빔국수다. 

물론 비빔국수만 먹으면 섭하지-!! 

그렇기 때문에 항상 #갈비만두 아니면 #손만두 를 시킨다.

And if you are like me, a bit of spicy kick only adds to the delish favor of the dish. 

This is where Manghyang's Spicy Cold Noodle comes into play. 

Manghyang Bibimguksu is a famous franchise for spicy cold noodle in Korea. 

Their bowl of noodle will cool you down while giving you mouth full of flavor and a bit of spicy kick.

They have spicy and non-spicy option. 

The non-spicy option is an ordinary hot broth noodle. 

I have never tried it as I would rather go for what they are famous for. 

They also serve #dumpling which is also delicious but also helps to cool you down from the spicy burns that you might get from the dish. 

I always order a plate of dumpling and take a bite after each noodle slurp.

내가 사회생활하고 처음 먹은 것이 순대국이다. 

그 전에는 안 먹었다는 것이 너무나도 후회가 될만큼 맛있었고 그 후로는 추울 때나 더울 때나 해장이 필요 할 때나 든든한 밥이 필요 할 때나 그냥 주기적으로 찾게되는 메뉴가 되었다. 

첫 직장은 안양이었는데 정말 맛난 순대국집이 있다. 

현재 직장으로 이직 후, 동네 맛집 이곳 저곳 탐방 중, 이렇게 맛있는 순대국을 찾을 것이라고 생각도 못했다.

백암순대는 건물 지하에 찾기 어려운 위치에 있지만 워낙 맛있어서 조금만 늦게가면 밖에서 줄서서 기다려야 한다. 

하지만,,, 기다린 보람이 있는 맛집임-!!

​개인적으로 #고기만 을 주문하고 부추를 좋아해서 (어디서 독소를 빼준다는 말을 들어서... ㅎㅎ) 한가득 넣는다. 

이렇게 되면 밥을 말아 먹을 수 없다. 

왜냐,,, 안에 고기가 너무 많아서다. 

안 그래도 맛있는데 안에 재료도 푸짐하다.

However, if you try #soondaeguk a soup with pork meat and blood sausage, your opinion may change.

I tried soondaeguk for the #firsttime in my late twenties. 

As soon as I had it, I #fellinlove It's just such a comfort food and it surely fills you up. 

There's three choices you can make when ordering. 

You can choose to order only meat, only blood sausage or mix of both. 

I usually choose only meat.

#paekahm is located at the basement floor of a building and is sort of hard to find. (it's under the Starbucks)

However, it is so good that you have to get there early in order to get seated for lunch. 

They put meat and soondae so much that it's half soup and half meat and/or soondae. 

You can put some chives in. 

I love chives so I go a bit crazy. 

Their raddish kimchi is also great,, just a bit spicy with sweet flavor at the end.

I highly recommend this place. 

If you are in #gasan make some time to visit here.

강릉 해변도로에 덩그러니 있는 항구마차. 누가 갈까? 라고 생각했다. 

위치도 위치지만 대낮에 이미 문을 닫았기에… 

그런데 하도 맛집이라는 얘기를 듣고 다음날 가기로 결심했다. 

가서보니 영업 시간은 오전 10시반 ~ 오후 4시까지... 

전날 닫아있었던 것이 이미 영업시간이 지났기 때문이었다.

​대게칼국수가 메인 메뉴인데 옆 테이블들을 보니 가자미회무침을 한접시씩 하고 있었다. 

그래서 우리도 가자미회무침과 대게칼국수 주문했다. 

식전 서핑을 즐겼던지라 굉장히 허기졌고 그래서 그런지 가자미 회무침 첫입에 반함-!! 

새콤한 회무침에 빠져있는데 사장님께서 김이 모락모락 피어오르는 대게 칼국수를 주셨다. 

시원하고 달달한 대게 육수 한입하고 김치 하나 얹어서 칼국수 한입하니 속부터 따뜻해지기 시작했다. 

아무래도 달달한 대게가 있으니 한입 가득 넣고 쭈욱 빠는데 대게살과 육수가 입 안에 바다향을 가득 담아줬다. 

고소하고 달달한 대게 칼국수. 맛있다-!! 

그 무엇보다도 바닷가 앞에서 먹을 수 있어 좋다. 

가격이 저렴한 관계로 대게에 살이 많은 것은 아니지만 가성비 생각하면 맛있게 먹을 수 있는 곳이다-!!

There is a small #pocha style tent in the middle of coast at #gangreung and my first thought was 'Who would go there?' 

The location was #imo random and it was already closed. 

However, I've heard some good things about the restaurant or #noodle spot so I decided to go the next day. 

When I arrived, it says that the open hours are from #10am to #4pm

​Their popular dish is the #crab #kalguksu or #choppednoodle 

So, I ordered a bowl but realized that everyone there were having a #spicy #rawfish #salad too. 

Of course I ordered one for our table 

Me and my friend surfed before hand and we were #hungryaf and the #spicyrawfishsalad came out and we dived in. 

It was spicy but also had a bit of sweet and sour taste to it too. 

It was good and we finished about half of the dish before the noodle came out.

The crab addes a sweet savory taste to the ordinary kalguksu and if you throw a slice of #kimchi on it, it makes it heavenly,,, well, at least to my Korean taste. 

However, you get to have the #rawfishsalad with a #bowlofnoodle while looking at an ocean-!! 

I think it was quite a treat at gangreung especially after surfing. 

On top of all this, the price is fairly cheap #imo (bowl of noodle was 6,000 won)

If you are in the area, go check it out. 

However, make sure that you go before 4 PM, which is their closing time. 

(I don't know about their last order time but I went there around #2pm just to be safe.)

김치찌개랑 김치찌게로 끓인 두툼한 돼지고기랑 밥 한그릇 든든히 먹는다고 생각하면 더 좋을 것 같다.

그리고 계란말이는,,, 사진에는 없지만 정말 튼실하다.

It's a #comfortfood for all Koreans rather you are #richorpoor and young or old.

I found Baekjae Kimchi-jjigae not too long ago and wish I had found out about it sooner cause it's very... #verygood 

They only have two menu. Kimchi-jjigae and Egg-Roll. 

The kimchi-jjigae has two massive pieces of pork meat. 

It's so big you end up feeling like you had kimchi-jjigae and kimchi stewed pork.

여기 맛있지 맛있어-!! 여기는 정말 맛있어서 아는 사람들은 다 아는 집이라 설명을 해야하나? 싶다. 

#양재역 근처에서 뭘 잘 안 먹어서 몰랐는데 지인들과 양재 모임이 생기며 알게 된 집이다. 

여기 메뉴는 간단하다. 

#곰장어 아니면 #주꾸미 매운맛 아니면 안 매운맛. 

매운맛이 너무 #감칠나게매워 한번도 안 먹어본 사람은 있어도 한번만 먹은 사람은 없는-!!

This restaurant has 30 years of history. 

That is pretty impressive. 

However, what's more impressive is how they made their spicy sauced small #octopus so freaking addictive...

Before you get the wrong idea of this restaurant only serving spicy octopus, let me mention that they have sea eel and chicken feet. 

Yes, chicken feet. #lol 

Also, they have non-spicy option for the eel and octopus. 

If you are not a fan of spicy food, you can order non-spicy one, which is basically salt based.

A must order besides their main menu is the #riceball 

They serve you a bowl of rice with seaweed, salt and etc. 

You will put on a glove and mix it with your hands and make them into a ball. 

After this, put them on the grill, next to the what you are cooking and let the outer part of the rice ball get a bit crispy. 

You can have the rice balls as a chaser for the burns that you get from their delicious spicy octopus. 

FYI, their steamed egg is also good for cool you down from the burns. 

If you have room for a bit more goodness, try their yulmu-naengmyeon, which is a cold kimchi noodle soup. 

IMO, it is a best way to end the meal at tycoon huang jjukkumi, #trustme #delish

난 #냉면 먹고 자랐다. 

좀 더 자세히 말한다면 #평양냉면 먹고 자랐다. 

그리고 조금 더 정확하게 이야기 한다면...

난 #우래옥냉면 먹고 자랐다.

우선 이 포스팅 준비하며 알게 된 사실인데 우래옥은 1946년도에 #서북관 이었으나 6.25 전쟁으로 피란 후, 돌아오셔서 우래옥이라는 이름으로 다시 세우셨다.

우래옥이라는 이름의 뜻은,, #다시돌아온집 이다.

우래옥은 평양냉면 맛집으로 가장 냉면을 많이 판 날은 #이천그릇 을 넘게 팔았다고 한다.

우래옥은 #양념갈비 #불고기 그리고 #평양냉면 이 유명하다. (#육개장 도 유명하다-!!) 

우리 집의 경우 #불고기와냉면 콤보를 선호하고 

육수를 끌이며 무생채, 마늘, 배추김치를 넣어 푹 끓이고 밥이랑 반찬으로 먹거나 사리를 끓여서 같이 먹는다.

우래옥 냉면은 국물 첫 한모금으로 모든것을 이야기한다. 

국물을 마시는 순간의 그 시원함은 

마치 더운 날씨에 밖에 나가 고생하다 집에 귀가한 자식에게 고생했다고,, 

시원하게 한그릇하고 기운내라고,,

어머니께서 정성스레 준비하여 내어주신 사랑과 정성이 담긴 힘나게하는 그런 맛이다.

난 항상 불고기나 갈비와 함께 먹기 때문에 민짜를 먹는다.

팁... 이모님께 마늘소스 주세요~ 하시면 주방에서 맛난 소스를 들고 오신다.

우래옥은 을지로 본점 외 두 곳의 지점이 있다. 

미국 워싱턴 그리고 강남 대치동. 개인적으로 워싱턴은 안 가봤지만 강남 대치동은 맛이 다르다. 

솔직히, 달라졌다. 

예전에는 맛있었는데 요즘은 맛이 좀 변했고 지나가다 보면 손님도 예전보다 많이 줄었다. 

그래서 강남에 거주하지만 #우래옥본점 으로 간다. #아쉽다

Wooraeoak, a must go restaurant in S. Korea

Yes, naengmyeon, a cold buck wheat noodle served in cold broth. 

There are few different types based on the location where they are originated. 

I am a fan of #pyeongyangnaengmyeon which originates from Pyeongyang city in North Korea.

Wooraeoak

I grew up going to this place almost every weekend. 

I'd go sometimes with my grandma and her ritual was to not eat anything until the bowl was finished as she wanted to fully savor the naengmyeon's flavor. #imissmygrandma

Wooraeoak is famous for their #bulgogi #galbi #naengmyeon and #yookgaejang (Korean hot beef soup).

My recommendation is that you order either bulgogi or galbi based on your preference and order a bowl of naengmyeon. 

Make sure that they serve you the naengmyeon whenever they are ready and not after you are done with the meat. 

You can be extreme as my grandma and let the broth be the first thing that touches your taste bud but if you cannot wait, enjoy their delicious Korean BBQ. 

However, when the bowl of naengmyeon comes, take a sip of the broth first, taste it and then add in vinegar and mustard as to your liking. 

After this, get either galbi or bulgogi on top of your noodle and take a big bite of both meat and noodle with some raddish and cabbage served with naengmyeon. 

As you slurp the noodle in, take the bowl, lift it, bring it to your mouth and take couple sips of the broth. It will be a delicious experience.

Few fun facts of the restaurant is that it was established in 1946 under the name of Seobookgwan. 

However, during Korean war, they fled and when it was over, they came back and re-established the restaurant under the name Wooraeoak. 

The meaning of Wooraeoak is 'The house that I returened to.' 

The restaurant received all kinds of love due to their taste and the most bowl they sold on a day is twenty some hundred bowls.

If you are in a state, they have a branch in Washington D.C.

#여름은좋다 무척 덥고 습하고 땀나고 #출퇴근길 지하철에서는 아저씨들 쉰내나지만,, #냉짬뽕계절 이라 좋다. 

#중국냉면 은 많이 먹어봤는데,, 

* 참고로 고속터미널 #메리어트호텔 의 #만호 와 #더플라자호텔 의 #도원 의 중국냉면은 수준급이다. 

  만호의 경우 소고기 육수에서 닭고기 육수로 바꾼 후 수준 떨어졌고 도원은 소고기 육수랑 닭고기 육수 섞음

#냉짬뽕 은 회사에서 점심 식사 멤버들과 외식하는데 그 중 한명이 ‘냉짬뽕 먹어봤어?’ 한마디에 

바로 #고고 하게되어 약 2~3년 전에 처음 맛보게 된 소중한 #여름별미

​육수는 시원했다. 

그런데 매콤한 향이 위에서 시원한 육수의 향과 올라오며 입 안을 감쌌고 입술은 청량고추가 경고를 주기 시작했다. 

면 위에 야채, 해삼, 오징어 등을 올리고 크게 한입 먹는 순간, 입 안은 시원함과 야채들의 아삭함, 해삼과 오징어의 쫄깃함으로 가득했다. 

이렇게 격한 표현은 쓰고 싶지 않지만… #존나맛있다

여긴 현재 다니고 있는 회사 때려치지 않는 동안 여름 코스다. 

때려쳐도… 이거 차이나 냉짬뽕 먹으러 올 수 있다. 충.분.히-!!

참고로… 여기 간짜장도 진짜 맛있다. 전 항상 여름엔 냉짬뽕, 그 외로는 #간짜장

What is Naeng-Champon?

#Champon is spicy noodle with a lot of veggies and seafood. 

It is one of famous Koreanized Chinese dish that is loved by many if not by the country. 

However, when the weather gets warm, you don’t really want to sit down for a hot spicy bowl of noodle. 

So this restaurant Chaina decided to put a twist and serve it cold. 

(Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of restaurants that serve champon cold too.)

My first sip of broth was so refreshing but the spicy broth gave me a kick. 

The first bite that followed was just full of flavors… 

The cold and crunchy vegetables, chewy seafood and cold noodle was simply amazing. 

Of course, I immediately followed it up with one more sip of the spicy cold broth.

This is a must go place for me during summer season. 

It’s right next to my work but even if I quit my current job, I’d still come here to have their amazing #naengchampon

Their gan-jjajang is amazing too.
